BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Wearin’ of the Green Parade for St. Patrick’s Day took to the streets Saturday morning.

It’s one of the most attended parades in Baton Rouge. Several who came said they have a good time every year.

Many known faces in the city participated in the parade, like Baton Rouge Police Chief Thomas Morse. Former LSU basketball star Seimone Augustus was the 2024 grand marshal.

The parade first started in Baton Rouge on March 15, 1986, in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.

More than 80 uniquely decorated floats threw green beads and holiday treats. Many families were out and enjoying themselves.

“It brings everybody together. I think we need more events like this in Baton Rouge,” said parade-goer Hannah Glynn.

The party continued at venues along the route and through the city, like one at Uncle Earl’s Bar with special performances from artists like T.I.
