    Bath woman arrested on welfare fraud charges

    BATH, N.Y. ( WETM ) — A Bath woman was arrested in April on several felony charges after police say she took thousands of dollars in social services money that she wasn’t entitled to have.

    According to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, 34-year-old Mallisa M. Aldrich was arrested on Friday, April 26, after an investigation into a six-month fraud campaign.

    Police say that between September 1, 2023, and February 29, 2024, Aldrich was given $3,587 from the Steuben County Department of Social Services after she falsely filed documents and turned them in to the social services office.

    Aldrich was arrested on the charges of offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree, a class E felony, falsifying business records in the first degree, a class E felony, welfare fraud in the third degree, a class D felony, and grand larceny in the third degree, a class D felony.

    Aldrich was processed in arraignment court before being released.
