MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Batesville, Arkansas man is facing several drug-related charges after $1 million in methamphetamine was discovered in his home.

The 16th Judicial Drug Task Force announced on Wednesday that after a 6-month long multi-agency investigation, an arrest was made for the suspected trafficking of methamphetamine.

In January 2024, members of the Drug Task Force along with the Independence County Sheriff’s Office began the narcotics investigation involving Jose Gonzales, who was suspected of trafficking methamphetamine throughout the county.

Agents conducted undercover controlled dug buys from Gonzales over the course of several months, according to a press release.

On Tuesday, the Independence County Sheriff’s Office, the Drug Task Force, and the Batesville Police Department executed a search warrant on Gonzales’ home. During the search, 23.6 pounds of methamphetamine and three pounds of marijuana were located inside the home.

Reports say the street value of the illegal drugs is over $1 million.

Charges that includes three counts of trafficking methamphetamine over 200 grams, all class “Y” felonies, along with several other drug-related offenses are being presented to the 16th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney.
