Capsized kayakers rescued from Hickory Creek
Four people were rescued from Hickory Creek, near Old Alton Bridge in southern Denton County, midday Thursday after their kayaks capsized. The Denton Fire Department responded to the creek just before noon after getting a call of two people in the water, officials said. Two more people from the same group soon capsized farther down the creek. The Denton FD Swift Water Rescue Team and Denton County ESD No. 1 personnel rescued all four people and brought them to shore safely.

PLANO, Texas — A Dallas man was sentenced to 16 years in federal prison after selling fentanyl-laced pills resulting in the death of a Frisco man, officials said. Benjamin Linder, 23, was sentenced Wednesday for conspiracy to distribute fentanyl resulting in death. Linder, also known as Benzo, admitted to selling drugs that led to the overdose death of a 20-year-old Frisco man, according to a press release from the United States Attorney’s Office Eastern District of Texas.
