Southern Denton County residents will head to the polls to decide several municipal and school board contests. Belmont Fresh Water Supply District No. 1 of Denton County is a government entity created by the Denton County Commissioners Court in 2007 and overseen by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The District’s primary functions are to provide roads and drainage infrastructure improvements as well as parks and some recreational facilities, such as the Harvest Lake and Walking Trail, within its boundaries, which covers most of the Harvest subdivision. The District also contracts with Republic Waste for waste and recycling services.
Firefighters battle blaze at warehouse near Northlake airport
Denton County ESD No. 1 (formerly the Argyle Fire District) doused a structure fire Monday afternoon near Northwest Regional Airport in Northlake. Around 4 p.m., firefighters were called to a fire at a warehouse in the 11000 block of Airport Boulevard, across from the runway, according to an ESD spokesperson. Crews arrived and confirmed seeing fire through the roof, as well as heavy smoke.

Firefighters contain Lantana house fire
Firefighters with the Denton County ESD No. 1 and Flower Mound Fire Department responded Monday morning to a house fire in Lantana. Crews were dispatched to a working structure fire in the 9000 block of Blanco around 7:45 a.m., according to an ESD spokesperson. The fire was contained to the garage. The cause is under investigation.
