Severe storms spawned tornadoes, large hail and heavy rain over the eastern Concho Valley Thursday between 6:00pm and 10:00pm. A tornado touchdown was reported about 2 miles east of Ballinger with another sighting near the O.H. Ivie Reservoir in southwest Coleman County. The atmosphere is projected to return to an unstable status Friday and produce yet another round of severe weather between 5:00 pm and 11:00 pm. This time, San Angelo has a better chance of receiving storms. On Saturday, with the arrival of another cold front, there is a very good chance for storms, some that could produce heavy rain.

SAN ANGELO, TX — Several people near Ballinger witnessed a tornado touch down at around 6 p.m. Thursday, May 2. The tornado was believed to have touched down towards the town of Benoit and south of US 67, or about 3 miles east/southeast of Ballinger.
