WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Gunfire erupted in Wilkes-Barre last weekend as retaliation for a fight between teenagers at the city’s annual Cherry Blossom Festival, police said. No injuries were reported following Sunday night’s exchange on Harkins Lane. Two people, Kiara Wynn and Dionte Taylor, were later arrested and accused of trying to break into a home there and of threatening the people who live in it, according to a criminal complaint.

Gang violence leads to increased security in Scranton schools
In the wake of increasing gang violence, the Scranton School District will be increasing security on school properties. The district made that announcement on Monday, following an uptick in fighting and threats of violence between students at West Scranton schools and at Memorial Stadium. Foster Township man pleads guilty to killing girlfriend, immediate sentence
WILKES-BARRE — A Foster Township man admitted Monday he fatally shot his girlfriend, Jessica Romano, during an argument inside their shared residence in January 2023.
