Trib HSSN baseball player of the week: Brock Cornell. #Earned: Even though the West Allegheny section schedule ended the previous week with the Indians sharing the Section 3-5A title with North Hills, the team won three nonsection games to finish 15-3 in the regular season. Junior center fielder Brock Cornell, the son of head coach Bryan Cornell, was a big reason for the strong finish, collecting five hits, including two doubles and two triples and four runs scored in wins over Hopewell, Montour and Beaver. For the season, Cornell is hitting .365 (23 for 63) with six doubles, four triples, one home run, eight RBIs and 20 runs scored. His slugging percentage is .635, his on-base percentage is .423 and he has 10 stolen bases. He is also one of the top defensive center fielders in the district.

Dotchin is listed on the Chartiers Valley school board agenda as the recommended candidate to be hired at Tuesday night’s meeting.
