Police have not made any arrests in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in North Austin, officials said at a news conference Monday morning.

Emergency responders received multiple calls about 8:40 p.m. Sunday reporting a shooting in the 1700 block of Rutland Drive, at a North Austin apartment complex near West Rundberg Lane, officer Leah Ratliff said.

Law enforcement officers found a Hispanic man in his 30s with a gunshot wound and "obvious trauma," according to Ratliff. She said first responders found him outside, but it was unclear whether the shooting had occurred indoors or outdoors. Life-saving attempts were unsuccessful, and the man was declared dead at the scene less than 10 minutes after first responders arrived, she said.

Police have determined that the killing was an isolated incident with no threat to the public, Ratliff said.

Police said anyone with information about the shooting should contact the department's tip line, 512-974-TIPS. Information can be submitted anonymously via Capital Area Crime Stoppers online or austincrimestoppers.org, or by calling 512-472-8477.
