A vacant lot in the Austin suburb is seeing development this year. A new Speedy Mart location is to be built at 964 N Bagdad Road in Leander, per a recent state permit filing. This is already a chain in the Austin area that is seeking expansion this year. Owner Rajendra Ghandi told What Now Austin he does not yet have an opening date, but construction is underway.

Fire-Grilled Mexican Seafood Is Coming to South Austin
A new Mexican seafood restaurant, Mi Vecino, is opening in Circle C, courtesy of chef Amir Hajimaleki and his brother Ali Hajimaleki of Roya Hospitality Group. It’s slated to open between now and early 2027, per a release. The restaurant, Mi Vecino, will open at 5701 West Slaughter Lane, replacing another of the group’s restaurants, Keeper’s Coastal Kitchen, which closed Saturday, October 24.
