In Your Community: Duplicate Bridge

Duplicate Bridge players came out in force on Tuesday, coming from Albert Lea, Austin, Rose Creek and Austin. Winners were:

First place, Larry Crowe and Bill Momsen

Second place, Edna Knobbe and Gail Schmidt

Third place, Camilla Sparks and Paul Hanson

Fourth place, Theresa Baldus and Barb Rofshus

Fifth place, Barb Butler and John Buley

Wednesday winners, playing three and a half tables only were:

First place, Gail Schmidt and Dave Ring

Second place, Vandy Newman and Ron Peters

Third place (tie) John Leisen and Rick Stroup and Barb Rofshus and Paul Hanson

Jerry Helms has an interesting article in the April issue of the ACBL magazine: The weak two bids. He states four guidelines which are position at the table, vulnerability, partnership style and partners sense of humor. We see some of these every week at our bridge tables,

Duplicate Bridge is played twice a week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays starting at 11:30 a.m. Many players come early and have lunch at the center before play starts. All are welcome to have a seat at the table, bring a partner or call Joyce Crowe at 437-2750; she will line you up with a partner.
