An Iowa man was cited for "Failure to Maintain Control" after early morning crash on I-380
Buchanan County — An Iowa man was ticketed for "Failure to Maintain Control" after an early morning crash left nearly a dozen cows dead on Friday. Buchanan County deputies responded to the scene near the 50 mile marker of Interstate 380 (I-380) just before 3 a.m. They say Delbert Miller of Stacyville was driving north on 380 when he fell asleep behind the wheel and crashed into a cement bridge rail. The semi then overturned and fell into the creek below the bridge. There were about 60 cows in the cattle trailer at the time of the crash. About 12 to 15 of them died as a result of the crash.

One Person Killed in House Fire in Buchanan County Sunday
(Buchanan County, IA) -- One person is dead after a house fire in Buchanan County on Sunday. The Buchanan County Sheriff's Office says the fire was reported in the 700 block of E Cedar Street in Quasqueton a little after 3am. The fire and smoke was so heavy that crews couldn't make an immediate entry. Once the fire was contained, crews found 69 year-old Kathryn Crawford inside the home in serious conditions.

Man Arrested for Forged Lottery Tickets
An Independence man has been arrested for allegedly cashing forged lottery tickets at a Waterloo gas station, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 37 year old Jeremiah Sherwood is accused of attaching bogus faces to losing pull-tab tickets and redeeming them at the Prime Mart on Lafayette Street. The wins ranged from $20 to $100. Investigators with the Iowa Lottery Division determined the tickets were fake. Employees at the store identified Sherwood through a photo lineup. He has been charged with four counts of Lottery Fraud.
