AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Darryuan Tanksley, a 15-year-old, is wanted in the shooting death of 14-year-old Anthony Harrison Wednesday night on Richmond Hill Road.

Reverend Dr. Larry Fryer says it’s important to make sure teens make good choices, but they have to choose life first.

ALSO ON WJBF: 15-year-old wanted for murder in connection to 14-year-old shooting death at Cedarwood Apts.

“We got to bring some hope, and ensure them that they can live, and that they can succeed. They got to learn, it’s not the bullet but it’s the book.”

Investigators say 14-year-old Anthony Harrison, who attended Murphey Middle School, was shot at least once and was killed last night at Cedar West Apartments off Richmond Hill Road.

Reverend Dr. Larry Fryer says change starts with the older generation.

“We got to help them to make good choices. To respect law enforcement, to respect parents, to  respect yourself, and let’s see if we can find some dynamic ways to better the condition of our young people,” Rev. Fryer said.

This weekend, Reverend Fryer is already planning to do just that.

“Saturday, May 4th, there’s gonna be a stop violence effort we’re doing with an organization I’m a part of. That will begin at Dyess Park and it will end at May Park, and it’s gonna be one area to stop gun violence.”

While the shooting investigation continues, Reverend Fryer says the community has to investigate why these teens are resulting in gun violence and put a stop to it.

“A lot of the problems are not just physical death. There’s mental death, there’s emotional death, there is a financial death, there’s psychological death, there’s socioeconomic death. So, they are crying out, and a lot of them saying ‘you don’t care about me, I don’t care about myself, I’m gonna do what I wanna, and to heck with it.’”

That event will be held Saturday, May 4th at noon. Count on WJBF News Channel 6 as we will continue to update you with more information on the investigation as we learn it.
