(Atlantic) The Cass County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests between April 20th and May 7th:. On May 7th, 2024, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kisauo Stephen, 37, of Council Bluffs, on a warrant for Failure to Appear. Kisauo was transported to the Cass County Jail where he was booked and held.
Final Results from Class 1A Regional Final as BCLUW Earns Team Victory
(Anita, IA) – At the Crestwood Hills golf course in Anita, multiple local girls got their ticket to the state tournament. Winning overall as a team was BCLUW who shot a 378 overall in first while Newell-Fonda shot a 397. Sidney was able to finish in third while shooting a 410, Mount Ayr was able to earn fourth with a 416, and St. Albert shot a team score of 424 in fifth. Coming in sixth was Riverside with 458 and ACGC finished with 511.
Second MARC event set for KMAland tornado victims
(Council Bluffs) -- Assistance is still available for KMAland residents recently struck by disaster. Another Multi-Agency Resource Center, or MARC event takes place Tuesday from 4-to-7 p.m. at the Mount Crescent Ski Area, 17025 Snowhill Lane in Honey Creek. Officials say the MARC is a one-stop shop for disaster survivor information, referrals and service delivery. Tuesday's MARC is open to victims of the April 26th and May 6th tornado events in Pottawattamie, Shelby and Harrison counties. In a recent interview with KMA News, Pottawattamie County Public Relations Manager Carl Carlsen urged all individuals touched by the recent storms to visit the MARC.
Coon Rapids-Bayard, Underwood lead 1A, 2A in Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association
(KMAland) -- Coon Rapids-Bayard and Underwood are both preseason No. 1 in their respective class rankings from the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. The Crusaders are No. 1 in 1A while the Eagles are on top of Class 2A to start the season, which can officially begin Monday. Kuemper Catholic (No. 8 in 2A), Bishop Heelan Catholic (No. 3 in 3A), Lewis Central (No. 10 in 3A) and Sioux City North (No. 10 in 4A) are also ranked.
ACGC Girls Get Ready for State Track
(Guthrie Center, IA) ACGC girls’ track finished up their state-qualifying meet in Earlham as they will send four total events to the state track, including the 800-meter run, the 1500-meter run, the sprint medley and the distance medley. With only state track yet to come, head coach Colin Shawgo is happy with what they’ve accomplished this season and believes his program will be ready for years to come.

AUDUBON, Iowa — A foreign exchange student from the West Bank has been living in Iowa for the past eight months — watching as the Israel-Hamas war rages on. Omar Sallak arrived in Audubon, Iowa, in August. Sallak is from Hebron in the West Bank and completed his senior year at Audubon High School. He joined the football, wrestling and track teams during his time at the school. He was voted homecoming king too.

(Stuart) Bob Kempf is retiring after 19 years at the helm of the Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Agency. Today is his last day on the job. Bob Kempf started in a part-time position as the Guthrie County Emergency Management Coordinator and Adair County until 2017, when the two agencies officially joined together, elevating Kempf to a full-time position.

AHSTW Girls and Boys Send Three Teams Each to State Track – Audubon Girls Await Official Times
(Treynor, IA) The Treynor state-qualifier meet started at 4 p.m. on Thursday as AHSTW and Audubon Girls track made their final adjustments before starting the races. The wait didn’t take long for the Lady Vikes as they started the meet off strong winning the 800-meter sprint medley with a time of 1:51.44. Caitlyn Dills, Loralei Wahling, Brooklyn Buck and Bella Lamp put together the Lady Vikes best time of the season behind a strong anchor leg from Lamp, overtaking MVAO-COU and Van Meter in the final lap to send the relay team to state.
