Six Cherokee County School District student artists have been selected for the Atlanta High School Art Exhibition, the district announced.

Arts Festival of Atlanta presents the annual juried show at the Atlanta Dogwood Festival in April to recognize and encourage high school student artists from 18 metro Atlanta counties.

It is considered one of the most competitive art shows in the state, with over 800 entries received annually and only about 200 pieces selected for exhibit. The artwork also is judged for the opportunity to earn additional recognition and prizes.

Cherokee High School sophomore Grace Dai earned additional recognition with an Honorable Mention award from the Georgia Watercolor Society for her entry titled “Mirrorball.” She is a student of Cherokee High visual arts teacher Morgan Clifton.

CCSD’s honored student artists are:

Kyra Albertson, senior, Etowah High School (teacher Shannah Dean) for “Back Breaking Standards”

Miranda Crespo, senior, Etowah High School (teacher Shannah Dean) for “Beauty”

Grace Dai, sophomore, Cherokee High School (teacher Morgan Clifton) for “Mirrorball”

Kate English, junior, Creekview High School (teacher Leslie Babcock) for “Overworked”

Victor Miranda Lara, freshman, Creekview High School (teacher Leslie Babcock) for “¼ of Sweetness”

Abby Roach, junior, Etowah High School (teacher Shannah Dean) for “Stack O’Beetles.”
