In a recent interview on The Rashad Richey Morning Show's weekly segment " Hot Spots ," Senior Editor of Food & Dining at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Ligaya Figueras , introduced her guest, owner of the new Caribbean restaurant J'ouvert in uptown Atlanta. The conversation delved into the unique culinary offerings at J'ouvert, Ms. Cyril's inspiration for the restaurant, and the growing trend of vegan and vegetarian options in Atlanta.

Tasha Cyril, originally from St. Lucia, expressed her excitement about opening Jouvet in the lively Lindbergh area of Buckhead. Her Caribbean background infused the menu at Jouvet with a mix of traditional favorites such as oxtails and jerk chicken, alongside innovative creations like passion fruit pancakes and a mouth-watering jerk burger. Tasha emphasized the importance of showcasing the diverse culinary traditions of the Caribbean beyond just Jamaican cuisine, incorporating dishes from Trinidad and other islands into her menu.

During the interview, Dr. Richey was particularly impressed by the Grandma's Oxtail dish at J'ouvert, praising its flavors and presentation. He also expressed his delight at discovering the watermelon arugula salad on the menu, describing it as a standout dish that left him speechless. Ms. Figueras chimed in to highlight the growing trend of vegan and vegetarian dining options in Atlanta, noting the increasing number of dedicated restaurants and meat-free options available throughout the city.

Ms. Cyril shared some of the vegetarian dishes offered at J'ouvert, including a cauliflower taco inspired by Haitian cuisine, a curried roti with pumpkin and mushrooms, and vegan doubles made with curried chickpeas and flatbread. She also showcased the watermelon salad, a refreshing and flavorful option that catered to both vegans and non-vegans. J'ouvert's commitment to offering diverse and innovative dishes reflects Ms. Cyril's dedication to showcasing the rich culinary heritage of the Caribbean in a modern and unique way.

With operating hours from Wednesday through Sunday, J'ouvert aims to provide a welcoming and inclusive dining experience for all guests.
