    Athens remains unbeaten in conference play

    MARAWOOD NORTH CONFERENCE

    With around two weeks remaining in the regular season, Athens High School is pulling away in girls softball by remaining 6-0 in the Marawood North Conference after winning two key games against their closest rival Chequamegon. The Bluejays are also 11-2 overall.

    Athens won a two game series against Chequamegon, winning 17-11 in Park Falls on April 30, and then defeating the Eagles in Athens 13-2 on May 2. The Bluejays host Prentice on May 7.

    Rib Lake now holds second place with a 3-2 conference record and are 7-6 overall. The team most recently defeated Phillips 14-2 on April 30.

    Avery Niemi and Josie Scheithauer are leading the team in batting. Josie Scheithauer and Tessa Weik are leading in runs batted in. Josie Scheithauer and Tahlia Scheithauer are leading in pitching with 3 wins each.

    Chequamegon dropped to 3-3 in the conference after dropping the two Athens games. The Eagles are 10-4 overall after a 10-0 non-conference loss at Stratford on May 3.

    The Eagles host Drummond on May 6, and then Rib Lake on May 7, before traveling to Rib Lake on May 9.

    Alize Taylor and Angelina BeBeau are leading the team in batting.

    Regan Hoffman and Angelina BeBeau are leading in runs batted in. Anya Brenholt is leading in pitching with 7 wins followed by Jalen Brunell with 3 wins.

    Phillips is 3-4 in the conference and 3-5 overall. After the May 6 conference game at Rib Lake, the Loggers will have two non-conference games with Columbus Catholic and Marathon.

    Kacy Eggebrecht and Alice Williams are leading the team in batting. Alie Williams and Lily Miller are leading in runs batted in. Brooke Eckert is leading in pitching with 3 wins.

    Prentice is currently 0-6 in the conference and 0-11 overall. The Buccaneers lost to Butternut/Mercer 13-8 on April 26. The team travels to Athens on May 7, before hosting the Bluejays on May 9, and will host Newman Catholic on May 10.

    Lydia Harding and Aaliyah Murphy are leading the team in batting. Kylee Scott and Aaliyah Murphy are leading in runs batted in.

    NORTHERN LIGHTS CONFERENCE

    Butternut/Mercer is currently holding fourth place with a 3-3 conference record and 4-6 overall. The Pioneers will host third place Drummond (2-2) on May 10, before traveling to South Shore (0-4) on May 13. The May 13 game at Bayfield was canceled.

    Jersey Polenchek and Anna Schloer are leading the team in hitting, while Josie Wagner and Jersey Polenchek are leading in runs batted in. Jersey Polenchek is leading in pitching with 3 wins, followed by Josie Wagner with 1 win.
