The Athens-Clarke County Unified Government and the Athens Downtown Development Authority hosted the annual Downtown Parade of Lights in Athens, Georgia, on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023. The State Botanical Garden of Georgia at the University of Georgia has been offering the Learning by Leading™ program since 2018. This program has equipped 171 students with skills needed for the workforce. It is designed to improve leadership skills through hands-on learning. Students acquire technical, human, and conceptual skills by working with staff mentors at the Botanical Garden. Cora Keber, the garden's education director, said the program aligns with the university's mission to prepare students for the green industry.
