The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incidents:. METH SEIZED: On April 6, Deputy Dustin Mines was traveling north on South Burson Avenue in Bogart when he received an alert that a Mercedes was traveling on Atlanta Highway and the driver was wanted on a warrant. The deputy located the car and made a traffic stop. The driver, a 51-year-old Athens woman, was placed in custody. The deputy spotted some pieces of meth on the seat and located a folded dollar bill that also contained meth. The passenger, a 46-year-old man with a Forsyth address, was placed in custody. Another passenger, a 46-year-old Watkinsville man, was seen throwing some cocaine out the window. He explained the other man threw it toward him after the stop, so he threw it out. A search was made of the trunk and a safe with some meth and syringes was found. The officers located three cell phones, and $2,248 in cash. The two men were both charged with trafficking in meth.

On April 15, a University of Georgia student athlete reported repeated, unwanted communication via Instagram from an unknown individual. The unknown individual also mailed letters addressed to the student to the UGA Athletic Complex. According to the report, when the student blocked the man, he began commenting on her athletic team’s posts.
