    D. E. Benedict is elected President of the Eagles Lodge. Other officers are John Krushewitz, Joe Gray, Thomas Upthegrove,Ed Shindler, Dell Andrus, Leo Lightner and Ed Groetzenberger.

    Polish Encyclopedia volume one is out! Father Ladislas Siekaniec, Ashland, is the editor in chief.

    C.A. Bono is now officially registered as the oldest old timer to sign the role of the Chequamegon Bay Old Settlers Club. He is the oldest in length of residence.

    Ashland received a federal grant of $72,000 to be used toward construction of a new airport.

    1984

    A squad car belonging to the Ashland County Sheriff’s Department was stolen and wrecked by a prisoner being transferred from Madison.
