Forest County students visit farm in Laona as culmination of in-school 4-H program
LAONA, Wis. (WJFW) – Fourth graders from all over Forest County gathered at the Forest County Potawatomi Farm in Laona today to learn about working with their community to promote sustainability. It was hosted by the U.W. Extension’s 4-H program. Students from Crandon, Laona and Wabeno elementary schools went to different stations at the Forest County Potawatomi Farm (known as the Bodwéwadmi Ktëgan) to learn about things like agriculture and farming. Anne Williams is the 4-H education programs for Oneida and Forest Counties and said the most important lesson of all, working with your fellow community members to build a more sustainable future.
Crandon High School Spanish teacher named Global Educator of the Year
CRANDON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has named a Forest County Wisconsin teacher Global Educator of the Year. Every year, the award is given to an educator who most uniquely incorporates a global education and the Wisconsin Global Scholars Program. It’s a program designed to improve global learning across the curriculum.
