The Texas Rangers couldn’t live for long without one particular member of their 2023 World Series team.

The Rangers announced Wednesday that they have reunited with outfielder Robbie Grossman in a trade with the Chicago White Sox. Texas is sending righty pitching prospect Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa back to Chicago.

Grossman, 34, was a member of the Rangers last season as they won it all. He hit .238 with a .734 OPS, racking up 10 home runs and 49 RBIs in 115 regular season games. He then signed with Chicago over the offseason, batting .211 over 25 games for them this season.

While Grossman struggled for Texas during their playoff run last year, he still brings value as a switch hitter who can be deployed against lefties. At just .235 collectively, the Rangers are a bottom-five team in the AL hitting against left-handers this season. Grossman should be able to platoon with Evan Carter in left field and could even pick up some at-bats at DH. That would help for a Rangers squad that is digging for scraps right now with their recent pickups thanks to injuries up and down the roster.
