Napoleon advances to baseball regionals with victory over Defiance

ARCHBOLD, Ohio — Napoleon defeated Defiance 13-3 on Saturday, winning a Division II district baseball title for the first time since 2011.

The No. 2 seed Wildcats (20-9) beat the top-seeded Bulldogs (20-6) at Memorial Park. Napoleon advances to play Huron in a regional semifinal at Bowling Green's Carter Park at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Napoleon senior Lucas Gerken went 3-for-4 on Saturday with a home run and five RBIs. Junior Parker Woods had three RBIs, senior Blaine Ford went 2-for-2 with three runs scored and two stolen bases, and senior Devin Dietrich was 2-for-2 with a double, three runs, one RBI, and one steal.

Senior pitcher Jacob Shadle got the victory, giving up six hits and three runs while striking out three.

It is Napoleon's second district baseball title in program history.
