Planned waterfront park in Charles secures federal funding
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced earlier this spring that the Popes Creek Waterfront Park Living Shoreline Design was one of 22 recipients of funding through the federal Coastal Zone Management Act. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources submitted the project and secured $120,865 in funding to be awarded to the Resilience Authority of Charles County. Prince William County Parks and Recreation is excited to once again partner with VA StrEATs and Luxe Entertainment to host Fridays at 5, the free*, outdoor summer concert series beginning 5 p.m., Friday, July 5. Annual soap box derby to be held Saturday in Stafford
The Soap Box Derby has undergone multiple iterations in the Fredericksburg area over the past several years. The event moved from downtown Fredericksburg to Dominion Raceway in Spotsylvania County in 2021. But this is the third year the event will be held at Rocky Run Elementary School in Stafford County.
