Newly opened Mor Furniture store offers 'great deals’ in Apple Valley

Couples snuggled on loveseats, families shopped for dining room sets and children were awed by bunk beds at the newly opened Mor Furniture for Less store in Apple Valley.

The Southern California-based furniture retailer opened a store on Thursday in the renovated building that formerly housed Bed Bath & Beyond.

The new Mor Furniture store is situated between Best Buy and Ultra Beauty in the Jess Ranch Marketplace.

“We’re looking for a living room set so we decided to stop by and take a look,” said Anna Tamir, who lives in Hesperia. “Looks like they have some great deals.”

Daisy Ramos, Melanie Huerta and fellow sales associates welcomed customers on Saturday to the store that showcased a large selection of complete furniture sets for the living room, family room, dining area, office and bedroom.

“Check out our large selection of Tempur-Pedic mattresses,” said a smiling Huerta, as other associates assisted customers.

Ramos told the Daily Press that Mor Furniture employees are excited about opening Apple Valley's first major furniture store.

“On opening day, not a lot of people knew that we were open,” Ramos said. “But word finally spread and customers started pouring in. We even had some of our competitors drop in to check us out.”

Mor Furniture for Less started in 1977 in San Diego as a single waterbed store and quickly grew to multiple locations, company officials said.

The company opened a store in Spokane, Washington in 1983, followed by a location in Portland, Oregon in 1984.

By 1987, there were stores located throughout San Diego, Portland, Spokane, and Seattle, Washington.

During the 1990’s, Mor Furniture for Less grew along the West Coast, under the name Bedroom Superstore, with locations throughout Washington, Oregon, and California, including Bakersfield and Fresno.

With over 500 employees and 36 stores in seven states, Mor Furniture is an industry-leading retailer that consistently ranks among the top 100 furniture retailers in the U.S., the company stated.

Originally family-owned and operated, Mor was acquired by one of its suppliers in 2020.
