With the recent rainy winter in Apache Junction, the landscape has flourished with vibrant greenery. However, along with the beauty comes an unwanted guest: weeds.

As these weeds begin to sprout, it’s essential for residents to come together and tackle this issue for the betterment of the community, according to a release fro the city of Apache Junction.

The Code Compliance Division of the Apache Junction Development Services Department’s regulations state all weeds over 10 inches tall must be cut. This duty falls upon property owners and occupants, who are tasked with maintaining their portion of any alleys behind their properties and up to the pavement in the front yard.

While the sight of lush greenery can be appealing, overgrown weeds can quickly become a fire hazard, particularly when they dry out. It’s crucial to remain vigilant and proactive in managing these potential risks, the release states.

Mayor Chip Wilson echoes this sentiment, urging everyone to play their part in preserving the beauty of Apache Junction.

“Let’s beautify our community by keeping weeds at bay,” he said in the release. “Your efforts contribute to making Apache Junction a welcoming place for all.”
