Del Valle alum Jake Fette's breakthrough signals new era at Arizona State
As is usually the case with star, true freshmen quarterback recruits, Jake Fette mostly disappeared from view for El Pasoans after playing his last game a season ago at Del Valle High School in the playoffs against Lubbock Cooper to wrap up his El Paso Times offensive player of the year season. He got some mop-up time by throwing two passes in a 70-7 win against Morgan State in early September, but for the most part, one of the most coveted recruits in the history of El Paso has spent the last 10 months ( his first practice with the Sun Devils was the week of last year's Sun Bowl at Eastwood High) watching and learning. Kickoff time, TV channel announced for Colorado vs. Arizona State
The kickoff time for Colorado 's Week 10 matchup against Arizona State has been announced. Head coach Deion Sanders and his program will head to Tempe to take on the Sun Devils on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 5:30 p.m. MT. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2 Arizona State has had an inconsistent start to the season under head coach Kenny Dillingham, largely because it has struggled to find a reliable quarterback. Entering Week 9, the Sun Devils are 4-3 (2-2 Big 12) but come off a win over Kansas State, where they played three quarterbacks. However, ASU's star running back Cardae Mack rushed 26 times for 159 yards and four touchdowns, leading the win. The Sun Devils will be coming off a tough road matchup against BYU. The Buffs enter Week 10 after a game against Kansas State, where Colorado hopefully picked up its first conference win of the season. Colorado's defense will need to limit Mack, but the Buffs could be in position to win a second straight game should everything go well against the Wildcats. Arizona State opens Randy Bennett era vs. East Tennessee State
After spending 25 years building Saint Mary's into a West Coast college basketball power, Randy Bennett pulled off a shocker when he departed to take the vacant Arizona State job this spring. Bennett coaches his first regular season game from the Sun Devils' sideline Monday when they host East Tennessee State in Tempe, Ariz. Arizona State was picked 12th in the Big 12 preseason poll but the material is there to outperform expectations. Bennett brought in a solid transfer class, plucking players not just from his old roster but from throughout the West Coast Conference. From Saint Mary's, Bennett took Paulius Murauskas, the Big 12 preseason Newcomer of the Year after averaging 18.4 points and 7.6 rebounds last season for the Gaels, and 6-8 swingman Dillan Shaw, who made 41.6% of his 3-pointers last season. Also new to the roster are Gonzaga transfer Emmanuel Innocenti, who profiles as a classic 3-and-D small forward.
