Palisades softball posts surprising rout of Palmerton in Colonial League semifinals
Palisades High School’s 11-2 conquest of Palmerton in the Colonial League semifinals Tuesday at Patriots Park was nothing like the teams’ regular-season meeting. That was a 1-0 Palmerton victory on April 27 in which Palisades managed just one hit off Blue Bombers senior right-hander Carley Gaffney, and the victors mustered only one hit off Pirates junior righty Karlye Teman.
GIRLS LACROSSE: Phillipsburg Holds on for the Win Over Voorhees
PHILLIPSBURG, NJ - Senior midfielder Julia Butler scored four goals to give her 165 in her career as Phillipsburg High School built a 10-4 lead at halftime and held on for a 10-9 victory over Voorhees in a Skyland Conference cross-division girl’s lacrosse match on Monday. Classmate Jill Miller tallied three times to give her 124 in her career while junior Sophia Remian added a pair of goals for the Stateliners. Senior Isabella Plath recorded her 100th hit for Raritan in its 18-5 victory against Brick Township in Brick. Raritan (13-7) trailed 5-4 after two innings before scoring 14 unanswered runs the rest of the way. Plath finished 2-for-5 with an RBI and one run while Madison Regiec went 3-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.
