Rising 2026 Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill EDGE Katrell Webb had an offer from Michigan when the old coaching staff was leading the charge, so when the sophomore found out that the new regime re-entered the picture, Webb was elated.

“It felt great getting an offer from the new staff, building a new relationship with the coaches up there,” Webb told The Wolverine .

Webb got in contact with new Michigan defensive line coach Lou Esposito earlier this month, with the latter proclaiming that Webb’s presence in Ann Arbor on an unofficial visit is desired.

“They really want me to come to the school, get up there, and work out with them so they can give me a real look,” Webb said. “He’s seen my film. He said he loved my tape. So right now, we’re just building our relationship.”

First impressions of Esposito are high for Webb, and the feeling is mutual from the assistant.

“He’s a great, energetic coach,” Webb said. “The things he was talking about, he has a great football mind, and he’s a funny guy as well.

“He was saying he likes my versatility. He was telling me right now I could be at EDGE, but when I get to college, they put a couple more pounds on me. They would move me (to the) interior. They can move me (to the) interior because I’m versatile and basically just dog the weak link of the O-line and stuff like that. He likes my fit for the Michigan defense.”

Being re-offered following the national championship means a great deal for Webb, but so is the fact that the offer comes from a program heralded for developing defensive linemen.

“That D-line is nasty,” Webb said. “I like what they’re doing right now. They’re going to produce a lot of NFL talent this upcoming season. I know they’re going to get a lot of draft takes on that D-line. So, it’s definitely a good thing in my mind. It’s a great thing.”

“I had them winning it all week five. I called them winning. I already knew what it was.”

Webb was told first-hand about playing Michigan by Chris Hinton when they spoke around the time the first offer was extended.

“He was telling me that’s the place to be at,” Webb said. “That’s the place to go, for sure. That’s the new D-Line U.”

An appearance in Ann Arbor could be in the works before the start of the new year.

“I’m pretty sure, most confidently, I will be up there this summer,” Webb said. “If not this summer, most definitely for a game in The Big House. I heard the facilities are crazy, so I definitely want to see the facilities, like the weight room and the stadium. Really, I just want to build more relationships with the coaches.”

Along with Michigan, Webb holds notable offers from Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Auburn, Florida State, UCF, LSU, Ole Miss, Louisville, Pitt, Missouri, Kentucky, Arkansas, and others. At 6-foot-2, 225 pounds, he’s not yet listed on the On3 Industry Ranking.
