ANDERSON, Ind. — An Anderson man is in serious condition at an Indianapolis hospital after police say the driver of an SUV hit him Monday while he was crossing the street.

Anderson Police officers were called around 10:40 p.m. Monday to the intersection of E. 6th Street and Scatterfield Road for a serious crash involving a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, APD said officers found a 66-year-old man in the roadway suffering from critical injuries. Officers secured the scene and the man was taken by EMS to an Indy-area hospital, where he remains in serious condition.

APD said detectives believe the SUV driver was headed northbound on Scatterfield Road when they collided with the man as he was walking in the roadway.

The driver of the SUV stayed on scene and is fully cooperating with police, APD said Tuesday. No criminal activity is suspected.

Due to the seriousness of the crash, APD’s Crash Team was called to investigate. Any witnesses to the crash are being asked to contact APD Sgt. Josh Bowling by calling (765) 648-6756.
