The city of Anaheim will host an “informational open house” about Disneyland Forward on April 10, ahead of a city council meeting when officials will vote on the proposed expansion project.

The open house will be held at the Downtown Anaheim Community Center from 6 to 8 p.m.

“The open house is a chance to learn more and ask questions about the proposal. If you’re looking to share your thoughts on the proposal, we encourage you to attend the April 16 City Council meeting or email your comments to publiccomment@anaheim.net ,” the city’s Instagram post said.

Disneyland expansion moves a step closer to reality

The city council’s vote on Disneyland Forward “marks the final phase of consideration after years of community meetings, city council and planning commission workshops, information sharing and news coverage,” the post continued.

Anaheim planning commissioners voted to approve Disney’s massive $1.9 billion expansion proposal on March 12.

The proposal outlines how “ The Happiest Place on Earth ” wants to grow its theme park offerings within its existing 490-acre footprint through updated zoning regulations.

The expansion would include new attractions, shops and restaurants within the current Disneyland Resort property and undeveloped areas at the resort.

The proposal would allow theme park attractions to be built alongside hotels on the west side of Disneyland Drive, along with new attractions, rides, shopping, dining and entertainment where the Toy Story Parking Area at Katella Avenue and Harbor Boulevard stands today.

The Disneyland Forward plan would also add expanded parking east of the resort and new parking northeast of the theme parks, as well as potential footbridges across Harbor Boulevard and Disneyland Drive, according to the city.

The entertainment giant is also looking to acquire Magic Way, a 1,150-foot road on the west side of the resort, to be included in the expansion.

Disney first announced Disneyland Forward in March 2021 and has hosted multiple informational meetings and events for the public since 2022.

While Disney hasn’t shared specifics of how the expansion will materialize, many Disney fans have theorized that Disneyland could get lands inspired by “ Tangled,” “Frozen” or “Zootopia, ” and others that exist at other Disney parks.
