A time of year when everyone can connect with each other by dressing up to become whatever they want, whether it be a princess or an alien. But the event that brings happiness, anticipation, and fear in one is the haunted house of nightmares and sensory overload. You can hear the screams, shouts, laughs, and cries of the people who want to get out. As you wait in line, the anticipation gets to you, but when you see people running out, it gives you the chills and makes you wanna back out. Would you enter the haunted house or be the scaredy-cat who stays out? According to the website, Americanhaunts.com, there is an estimated number of 1,200+ haunted houses around the U.S., and most charge $25 per event. As 10th grader, Banu Kalantarli says, that watching people run out the haunted house doesn’t scare her one bit, but “it makes me want to go in the haunted house even more. I see it as proof that the haunted house is actually scary.”
