Amherst Pelham Regional Public Schools Committee appoints new superintendent

AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – The Amherst Pelham Regional Public Schools Committee has decided who will serve as the next superintendent.

Dr. E Xiomara Herman has been chosen to lead the school system. She is a current superintendent from the Virgin Islands.

The school district faced several controversies last year that prompted this search. It comes after a Title 9 investigation was launched last April, following claims of gender discrimination in the district. Former Superintendent Dr. Michael Morris resigned during the contentious debate… citing medical reasons.

Dr. Herman will officially be appointed as the new superintendent on July 1st if contract negotiations go as planned.
