SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – Former Iowa State quarterback and West Sioux alum Hunter Dekkers will be trading in his Cyclones threads for an Iowa Western jersey, playing for the Reivers this upcoming season.

Dekkers, who started for Iowa State in 2022, was one of the ISU student-athletes listed in the state’s sports wagering investigation last year. The Hawarden native is enrolled at Iowa Western CC and is eligible for the 2024 season, a source within the Reivers’ athletic department tells KCAU 9.

Dekkers has been participating in spring ball with the Iowa Western team, according to the school’s athletic department. Iowa Western is coming off its third NJCAA National Title in 2023.
