LUBBOCK, Texas — Tommie Thomas, 55, pled guilty on Monday to a September 29 armed bank robbery in Amarillo, according to federal court records obtained by EverythingLubbock.com on Wednesday.

On the morning of September 29, Thomas walked into Access Community Credit Union and asked the tellers for $100 and $50 bills. Federal court records said Thomas pulled out a handgun, cocked it and pointed it at the tellers. The two gave the money to Thomas before he left.

Thomas was also a suspect in an October 12 Family Dollar robbery where he was accused of posing as a city worker and holding an employee at gunpoint before he was given money from the cash register. He was booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center after the incident.

Thomas’ sentencing will begin at a later date. His maximum punishment is 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, three years of supervised release and restitution for the victims.
