ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — An hours-long police standoff in Altoona that was streamed on Facebook began over a domestic incident, police said.
Altoona police were contacted April 17 about Al Mu Min Yusef Diaz, 45, allegedly threatening to kill an ex, according to charges filed. She alleged that she was fearful for her life and that Diaz had a handgun in the house.
Police and tactical response team members went to Diaz’s home around 1 p.m. the next day and announced for him to come out of the house. According to the criminal complaint, Diaz refused and instead started streaming live on Facebook while inside the home.
During the stream, Diaz said he wasn’t going to leave the house and stated several times he didn’t have any guns, just weed. Diaz was seen by police on the live stream roaming around inside of his house. At one point, he laid down in bed before getting up and brushing his teeth.
Shortly after the livestream ended, Lieutenant Day was able to reach Diaz on his cellphone, police said. Diaz filmed a reel of himself going out and surrendering, showing everyone beforehand that he didn’t have any weapons in his waistband or pockets.
According to the complaint, the standoff with Diaz lasted nearly three and a half hours. He was taken into custody before being taken to UPMC Altoona.

A search of his home found three handguns, full magazines, counterfeit money and six ounces of marijuana, the criminal complaint shows. Police noted previous convictions for Diaz that make him a person not to possess a firearm.
Diaz was released from UPMC Altoona and taken to Blair County Prison Tuesday afternoon. His bail was set at $200,000.
