Bishop Hill music fest coming June 1
The Bishop Hill Folk Music Festival will be Saturday June 1, 2024, in the village park in Bishop Hill. Performing will be some of the best-known musicians in Illinois, with styles spanning a wide range of folk music including hammered dulcimer, bluegrass, Celtic, and Woody Guthrie songs to name a few. In addition, Mike Anderson, the “Dulcimer Guy,” will have a program about the beauty of the Mountain Dulcimer in the Steeple Building Museum at noon.

Semitrailer catches fire Sunday afternoon near Geneseo on I-80, sustains minimal damage
HENRY COUNTY, Ill. — A semitrailer caught fire Sunday afternoon along I-80 westbound near Geneseo. Officials say the incident occurred around 12:43 p.m. at mile marker 20 in Henry County. The Geneseo Fire Department, EMS personnel and Illinois State Police Troop 2 responded to the scene, according to ISP's Public Information Office.
Local Young Eagles get a chance to experience ‘the world of flight’
On Saturday, daring youth met with area pilots at the Kewanee Municipal Airport for an opportunity to fly the friendly skies over Kewanee. The flights were offered, as they are each year, by volunteer pilots with Chapter 75, Iowa-Ill. Quad Cities Experimental Aviation Association (EEA). The free flights are all part of the Young Eagles Day, which provides youth an opportunity, maybe for the first time, to go up in an airplane.
