ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Sunday was South Valley Pride Day, giving people in the area plenty of reason to celebrate

The celebration closed a stretch of Isleta Boulevard for a parade; those who attended were able to grab some classic South Valley food from trucks, enjoy cultural performances from several dance and cheer teams, and enjoy music from an Atrisco Heritage Academy High School student mariachi band.

Bison moved from Yellowstone to Taos Pueblo

Part of South Valley Pride Day was also the ribbon cutting of the newly renovated Westside Community Center Park.

“It’s a celebration of how sweet the South Valley is. We have this really cool agricultural community right in the side of this urban city. That’s what makes us unique. We’re very prideful of our cultures, our waterways, our traditions,” said BernCo Commissioner Steven Quezada.

The park now has expanded grass areas, a new stage, and an upgraded trail.
