    Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Alamogordo with car show, concert and firefighter games

    Celebrate Cinco De Mayo in Alamogordo by rooting for your favorite firefighter at the 2024 firefighting games or rating your favorite lowrider at the fourth annual Lowrider Car show and concert this Saturday, May 4.

    2024 Alamogordo Firefighting Games

    When: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

    Where: Alameda Park found at 1599 North White Sands Boulevard

    Teams from local fire departments will be able to participate in the event. Although only firefighters are allowed to participate due to the equipment involved, family and friends are encouraged to attend the event. There will be free drinks and hot dogs provided.

    For competitors, the event will consist of challenges ranging from Hose Bowling, Water Polo, 3 Person Hose Lay, Bucket Brigade and Midnight Alarm.

    2024 Lowrider Car Show and Concert

    When: 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.

    Where: Otero County Fairgrounds at 401 Fairgrounds Road

    The Lowrider Car Show and Concert is hosted by the Mafiosos car club, Sal Limon y Chile, and the City of Alamogordo and will only cost $1 upon entry.

    A concert and dance floor will open under the pavilion at the Otero County Fairgrounds at 7 p.m. Food vendors and local shops including Cotton Valley Boutique, Sweet Tease and Sky Candy Productions will be present along with others that have not been announced.

    There will be first, second and third place trophies for 16 different classes. The trophy announcement will take place at 7 p.m. right before the concert.

    There will be trophies for best in show, people's choice, best motor, best paint and best interior. There is a $500 cash prize for Best in Show, and a $250 cash prize for the winner of the four other categories.
