Tara Lawrence, 49, of Oscoda
Tara Louise Lawrence, age 49, of Oscoda, MI passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Tawas St. Joseph Hospital. She was born in Oscoda, MI on April 15, 1974 to Kevin and Betty (Fifield) LaLonde. Tara worked for many years at Thomas Cottages in Oscoda. She met Les Lawrence on October 17, 1996 and they were married on September 18, 2009. Tara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend who truly cherished those roles. She enjoyed reading, her pets and most importantly, spending time with her family. Tara is survived by her loving husband, Les; children, Donald (Nicole) Parent, Kenneth “Andrew” (Rachel) Parent, Vicki (Zach) Pender and Tyler (Lindsey) Lawrence; Dad, Kevin (Debbie) LaLonde; Dad, Tommy Hackney; 9 grandchildren and 7 grand-dogs; best friends, Keith Duffin and Tonya Hinman and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mom, Betty Jean Hackney; brother, Danny LaLonde; mother-in-law, Anita D. Yates; father-in-law, Dennis Lawrence and aunt, Carol Bissonette. A celebration of life is being planned for April 13, 2024 and details will be announced at a later date. Tara is loved and missed by so many. Lake-effect snowfall is forecasted to continue throughout the day in Alger, northern Schoolcraft, and Luce counties. Although the snowfall rates have decreased, an additional 1 to 3 inches of fluffy snow is expected, with some isolated areas possibly receiving up to 4 inches. Snow accumulation may occur rapidly, especially in the heaviest snow bands, with rates of up to half an inch per hour. This could result in reduced visibility of half a mile or less. If traveling, it is advised to exercise caution due to slippery road conditions and reduced visibility, by turning on low-beam headlights.

Instruction: If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. A winter storm warning is in effect until 7 AM EST Tuesday for Alger, Luce, and Northern Schoolcraft Counties. The warning entails heavy lake effect snow, with additional accumulations of 4 to 7 inches and localized amounts up to 10 inches. There will also be gusty winds reaching up to 35 mph, resulting in patchy blowing snow. These conditions will make travel very difficult and could affect both morning and evening commutes.
