Motorcyclist pronounced dead after crash in Arenac County
ARENAC COUNTY, Mich. (WJRT) - A Bay County man died in a motorcycle crash this weekend in Arenac County. The Arenac County Sheriff's Office says 24-year-old Jordan Beaudin of Pinconning died in the crash just before 1 p.m. Saturday on Melita Road near White's Canoe Livery in Deep River Township.

With a spring that is bringing rainy and chilly topsy-turvy weather, turkey hunters in Ohio and Michigan nevertheless have fought the elements and found success. One Michigan hunter who I know through an online community found a surprise with her hulk of a bird: three beards. Heidi Bambach, 62, got excited as she saw two of them while walking up to her downed prize on her family’s farmland outside of Port Austin. It wasn’t until she was processing the turkey later that she discovered the third beard. Biologists say about 2 percent of turkeys will have multiple beards. The beard is a rope-like strand — actually modified feathers — that hangs from the neck area and makes the bird legal during the spring season.

Michigan medical examiner warns about 6 apparent drug overdoses in 11 days
A mid-Michigan medical examiner is raising the alarm after seeing an “unusual” series of fatal drug overdoses. In an April 19 public health warning, Dr. William Morrone said there have been six apparent drug overdoses in 11 days, including two Tuscola County deaths within 24 hours. Morrone serves as the chief medical examiner for Arenac, Bay, Iosco, Midland and Tuscola counties.
