A 20-year-old male was shot and robbed Sunday night in Northwest Akron, according to a release from the Akron Police Department.

The victim told police he was shot around 11 p.m. in the 400 block of N. Hawkins Ave. When officers arrived, they found him with a gunshot wound in the leg and treated him until EMS came and transported him to Cleveland Clinic Akron General with a non-life-threatening injury.

The victim told police he was shot by an unknown male suspect while in a convenience store parking lot. After the shooting, the victim said the suspect followed him into the store and threatened to kill him before leaving with the victim's belongings.

Police said the argument appeared to have started over money and that detectives are working to identify the suspect.

    This investigation is ongoing.
