    Akron homicide suspect allegedly shoots gun during arrest

    AKRON, Ohio (WJW) – A 19-year-old man wanted on a murder charge was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force on Wednesday.

    According to a release from the task force , Akron police responded to an apartment complex in the 1200 block of Everton Drive after gunshots were reported on Monday.

    Investigations found that an altercation between Isaiah McKinney, 19, and the victim, Gregory Dykes, 37, led to a fatal shooting.

    Dykes was found in the hallway by officers with a gunshot wound to his head, according to the release .

    Members of the task force and Akron Police Department arrested McKinney on Monday at a home in the 600 block of Kling Street, according to the release.

    During the arrest, McKinney allegedly fired a gun inside the home.

    “No task force members were injured or returned fire during this incident,” the release said.

    The Akron Police Department is processing the scene and additional charges are pending.
