Iowa Select Farms, Deb & Jeff Hansen Foundation distribute nearly 9,000 pork loins
WEST DES MOINES — Hundreds of Iowa organizations, including Brooklyn Ruritan Club, will have more to serve at their Veterans Day celebrations this year, thanks to Iowa Select Farms and the Deb & Jeff Hansen Foundation’s annual Pork for Patriots program. On Friday, October 23, the Foundation and Iowa Select Farms distributed 8,960 pork loins and event supplies to 249 organizations in 169 Iowa communities across 83 counties. The supplies will help local organizations host Veterans Day celebrations and appreciation events recognizing the men and women who have served in the U.S. military. Grinnell Elks Lodge 1266, Poweshiek County Veterans Affairs, American Legion Post 53 in Grinnell and Sons of the American Legion Post 53 in Grinnell also received pork loins as did American Legion Post 19 and Keokuk County Veterans Affairs in Sigourney, American Legion Auxiliary Post 54 in Victor and VFW Post 8797 and American Legion Auxiliary, Williamsburg. The distribution took place at Valley Stadium in West Des Moines, where participating organizations picked up their supplies through a drive-through process, according to a press release.
