Rogers High School Class of 2024 Top 10 students
The following students were honored as the top 10 students in the Rogers High School Class of 2024. Starting at number 10 is Jelani Jackson. Jelani Jackson’s GPA is 4.1583 and is a member of the National Honor Society. She has a passion for learning, and has taken rigorous coursework all four years of study. A two-sport athlete, Jelani has been a member of the Volleyball and Softball team for four years, and has served as captain of her Volleyball team in her senior year. Jelani served as Vice President of her class, junior and senior year. Jelani has received many academic awards and honors including the 2023 Civic Leadership award from the Secretary of State of Rhode Island, Junior English Scholar award and a Science Fair finalist 2 years in a row. This young woman was the recipient of the Dr. Marcus Wheatland Award and Scholarship at our 53rd Black History Month Assembly. She has participated in Key Club for three years, serving as the Community Service Coordinator in her senior year. Jelani participated in the Prepare RI internship program in the summer 2023. A military brat, she enjoys traveling around the world and spending time with friends and family. Jelani will be attending Hampton University in the fall to study Kinesiology/Exercise Science.
Fall River teachers in discussion with school district as their contracts come to an end
FALL RIVER, Mass. (WJAR) — The school year has ended for students, but the work is just starting for the Fall River Educators’ Association and the city. “There are many districts that are paid better then Fall River,” said Keith Michon, who is the president of the Fall River Educators’ Association. “We’re looking for a fair contract, our priorities are competitive compensation, reasonable workloads, paid parental leave and health and safety in our schools.”

Best Buddies Earn Rookie of the Year Honors
CHELMSFORD – Parker Middle School’s Best Buddies club has been recognized as the 2024 Rookie of the Year Chapter for the states of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The club was started by Special Education Teacher Alexandra Hansbury and Speech Pathologist Kristiana Kurth as a means to help foster peer relationships.
