Operating on a suspended/revoked operator’s license; 6. Operating motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, first; 7. Drug paraphernalia-buy/possession; 8. Endangering the welfare of a minor: 1. Pleaded guilty, $25 fine; 2. Pleaded guilty, $500 fine, suspended $450; 3-5. Dismissed in exchange for guilty plea; 6. Pleaded guilty, $200 fine and cost, loss of license to be determined by Department of Transportation, complete ADE, show cause 5/6/25; 7-8. Pleaded guilty, 30 days probated for two years concurrent.

Sewer line repaired after polluting creek in Inez
INEZ — Alliance Water Resources was prompted to expedite the repair of a sewer line after raw sewage was found leaking into Rockcastle Creek in the Beatrice Loop area on Old Route 3. The leakage was initially discovered by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, drawing attention to potential negligence at a local sewer treatment facility.
Ribbon cut for Van Lear Camp and Ride
The Paintsville/Johnson County Chamber of Commerce and others helped celebrate the opening of a new business at Van Lear with a ribbon-cutting ceremony May 23. Johnson County Judge-Executive Mark McKenzie said cutting the ribbon on Van Lear Camp and Ride "does more than just recognize a small business investment in our community."

Local veterans groups award scholarships to 10 high school seniors
The Veterans Coalition for Quality Health Care and DAV Chapter 18 of Auxier awarded scholarships to 10 high school seniors across Floyd, Johnson and Martin counties. Five students received scholarships of $500 each. The recipients include Ashdon Kerr from Martin County High School, Brett Gipson from Paintsville High School, Alex Hinkle from Betsy Layne High School, Constance Martin from Johnson Central High School and Timothy C. Robinson from Prestonsburg High School.

Mental Health Matters event to be June 1 in downtown Louisa city park
Lawrence County is holding their third yearly event, “Mental Health Matters” June 1 from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Main Street Park next to the Lawrence County Library. The event is sponsored by many of the area health organizations such as Three River’s Medical Center, Pathways, Mountain Comp, ARC, Mt. Homeplace KYNECT, The Drop and Horizon Home Care. The event will also have many area vendors along with Lawrence County Sheriff’s Impact Program and Northeast Headstart who will be on hand to register kids for their school.
