IHSAA to add girls wrestling and boys volleyball as fully sanctioned sports
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - The IHSAA has approved full recognition for Boys Volleyball and Girls Wrestling, beginning in the next school year. After being added to the emerging sport process in 2022, the state now has over 1,400 students involved in girls wrestling at 177 different schools, and that includes schools right here in the Tri-State. Mt. Vernon has already built up quite the girls wrestling program, along with Reitz high school. The Head Coach of the Reitz wrestling program, Scott Ferguson, says gaining full recognition as an IHSAA sport will only help the sport’s growth.
