Lobster is not the only draw for this year's Maine Lobster Festival
The lobster won't be the only big draw for the 77th Maine Lobster Festival in Rockland this summer. Organizers announced Wednesday that the USS Delbert D. Black (DDG-119) will be visiting during the festival. The Arleigh Burke-class destroyer will anchor in Rockland Harbor and there will be free tours available to the public. Organizers said exact tour dates and times will be announced later.

Memorial Day schedule for Camden, Rockport, Lincolnville
On Memorial Day, American Legion Post 30 and its community neighbors will honor the men and women who have lost their lives defending America since the Revolutionary War. “The American Legion will lead our communities in remembering those who gave their lives in service to our country,” said Jeff Sukeforth, Legion Post 30 Adjutant, in a news release. “Our Gold Star families carry the weight and pain of these losses every day of the year. An empty seat at dinner, a missing face during the holidays, a child’s first birthday without one or both parents. When we speak of sacrifice we not only talking about those killed in the line of duty, but also of the families whose loved ones are suddenly no longer there and are left behind. For them Memorial Day is not just the end of a 3-day weekend, but a somber moment for everyone to reflect on the steep price paid for our freedoms.”

Ocean View Breakfast in Tenants Harbor
The Harborview Bistro breakfast chef has been perfecting breakfast in Mid-coast Maine for the past decade. Her omelettes, hollandaise, and fluffy blueberry pancakes have made the East Wind Inn a breakfast destination. The breakfast menu features American classics like Eggs Benedict, Biscuits and Gravy, and Maine Lobster Omelet, and new additions: Lemon Ricotta French Toast and Breakfast Burrito. The dining room overlooks the water, offering a timeless view of the harbor, local lobster dock and Southern Island. Guests are able to watch the lobstermen load their boats from the co-op while sipping their morning coffee. On nice days, dining on the outdoor porch makes the experience even more enjoyable.

Protect Camden property rights, Vote No on Articles 5, 6, and 7
The Camden Planning Board has been misinformed, misguided and simply missed the point as it relates to affordable housing and other complex housing issues facing our community. Instead of creatively addressing this issue by forming a specialized work group or other mechanism to address affordable housing issues, they’ve simply sought...
No time to waste in Rockport
While I appreciate the cheeky humor of the anti-question 3 signs, I don’t appreciate the spread of misinformation. The ballot question asks for approval for bonds of $33 million. I assume the exaggerated figure of $52 million includes interest over the 30-year term of the bonds. However, when taking out a car loan or a mortgage, the amount borrowed (not the amount ultimately paid back) is the correct way of expressing the loan amount. We can disagree about whether to move forward with the proposal, but let’s discuss the matter fairly and stick to the facts.
