Binghamton Woman Sentenced After Stealing Pension Plan Payments
A Binghamton woman has been sentenced after stealing nearly $32,000 from her family. According to the State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli and the Broome County District Attorney, Joy LaBarr was sentenced to pay full restitution of nearly $32,000 and serve five years probation. LaBarr pleaded guilty to Grand Larceny in the 3rd degree earlier this year after stealing almost $32,000 in state pension payments that were for her late father-in-law.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man wanted on an outstanding warrant for a weapons charge. The office is looking for Jeremy Lewis, who is wanted on the charge of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree. Lewis is described as a white male, 5'9, weighing 155 pounds with brown hair and eyes.
At Binghamton University — known to attract Jews but not activists — students set up encampment
Some Jewish students helped erect the encampment. Others say pro-Palestinian activism is diminishing their college experience. Pro-Palestinian demonstrators set up an encampment in the main quad of Binghamton University Wednesday night, adding a campus not known for its activism to the about 30 across the country where students in past weeks have pitched tents to push colleges to divest from Israel.
