Accidental phone call leads to new U-Haul business in Freeport
FREEPORT, Ill. (WIFR) - People in the Freeport area have a new option to rent trucks, trailers, and other moving supplies. Elite Auto and Tire Inc./Elite Towing & Recovery, 1754 N Henderson Rd., is now the fourth U-Haul neighborhood dealer in Freeport. However, business leaders say the new venture started because of an accidental phone call.

Record-setting property auction brings in $1M+ for Winnebago and Boone counties
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - Hundreds of bids lead to thousands of dollars for Winnebago and Boone counties after a property auction in April. Region 1 Planning Council says the April 2024 Trustee Program auction set multiple records, bringing in a total of $1,037,993 for local governments and creates new futures for 170 previously neglected properties. R1 says more than 1,300 bids were placed by 280 bidders during the auction, both milestones for the trustee sale.
